The Wikiist

The Northwind Wiki's weekly newsletter publication by Jeffrevin
Edn. 6, June 5th, 2024

Welcome to The Wikiist!

The Wikiist is the Northwind Wiki's weekly newsletter publication, written and maintained by Jeffrevin. It features interviews with Wiki staff members, updates on Wiki progress, and other Wiki-related information, including statistics and usage. Through our publication, we hope to bring both the public and our own Wiki users up to date on our progress, introduce the playerbase to our staff, and invigorate potential contributors to help bring the Wiki to its full potential.

Moving On & Living Life

Jeffrevin
Damn. How long has it been, eight months? Think that's about right. And in that time, Northwind has gone through a lot of changes— changes which I haven't been there for or participate in.
To put it mildly, during the later months of last year, I wasn't able to be online all the time, including on Northwind and on the Wiki, and in the recent months of this year, I've been focusing far more on life than on getting back into playing and updating the Wiki.
As you know, Northwind had its island revamp update last winter— right around the time in which I was unable to play. This means that I've lost a bunch of progress as well as my houses, and being in the position in which I'm at right now, Northwind would be a hassle and a liability rather than something I'd be able to dedicate time and effort into once again, and I feel that my time and effort is thus better spent doing something that would directly benefit me: living.

As you probably know, AuthByte has been fulfilling my duties in my stead, and has done so practically since the moment I began my own work on the Wiki. During his time here, he has showed the same level of dedication and devotion to maintaining, upholding, and building upon the quality and progress of the Wiki as I did during the time in which I was active as well, and playing a hand in doing so. Thus, I have the privilege of handing over the reins to him in continuing in the position of Head Administrator for the Wiki— his work here speaks to his reliability and dedication to the Wiki.

I will no longer be contributing to the Wiki; aside from getting everything set up for the new Head Admin, this new edition is likely the only remaining contribution I'll be making. As such, with my departure, it has been a privilege being able to provide for this community, and in being a part of something to help serve it as the Wiki.
The world's out there waiting, and it's time I take part and take my place in it.

Meet the Staff

AuthByte (IrishCreativeDude)

Who are you?
I am AuthByte, formerly IrishCreativeDude, and I've been a fur trader and wiki editor for a bit.

Where are you from?
I live in the United States.

When did you start playing Northwind?
I started playing Northwind 11 months ago in August 2022, and have been playing ever since.

What brought you to contribute to the Wiki?
I was looking for information on the game mainly and I stumbled upon it, realizing that it needed a lot of work, so I've been working on it for a bit.

How are you right now?
I am doing good, I've been doing a few things lately such as plane spotting and playing games such as Northwind and editing the Wiki in my free time.

What have you been working on for the Wiki?
I have been working on the official faction pages mainly, such as the SLC, CNF, and FGTOC.

What is your favorite food?
I like quesadillas the most.

Any closing remarks for the public?
The Wiki is vastly outdated and updating a few words could help a lot, so if you have free time and like Northwind, then I highly recommend you edit the Wiki in order to provide the information players need.
