Northwind, stylized as NORTHWIND, is a Roblox roleplay survival adventure game set during the colonization of Quebec during the early to mid 18th Century. Having remained in development and being released for early access since 2019, during its four year existence, as of November 2023, Northwind has achieved over 12 million visits by Roblox players, with an approval rating of 90% and over 150,000 favorites. It is the spiritual successor to The Northern Frontier.

Game

Set in the 18th Century during the exploration of the New World and the Quebec frontier by the French and British, Northwind allows players to take on the roles of a Colonist, Native, or British/French Companyman. As a Colonist, the player can progress through the game by fulfilling tasks and contracts related to relevant professions, such as hunting, fishing, cooking, mining, and more. As a Native, players are given a simplified but more difficult role, as they must use the resources of their environment rather than Colonist-given tools to establish and maintain a living foothold, akin to the historical natives of North America.

Northwind also includes mechanics essential for depicting the hardship of living on the frontier of the New World, including the need for players to consume food and to keep warm and protect themselves from the weather. Players can also engage in combat against others, which is not uncommon between players of the colonial and native factions, and are even able to build structures that serve as living spaces and bases for themselves or for groups.
