The Hudson Bay Company is the royally chartered representative of the British government in Quebec, designated to govern and defend the islands which were signed over to Britain in the Treaty of Paris. It is organized into the British Militia, Military Police, Grenadiers, Highlanders, Artillerymen, Drummer Fife Corps. Members of the Company are referred to as Companymen, and follow a rank structure similar to the British Army of the same time period.
Overview
Between February 2022 and February 2025, The Hudson Bay Company (HBC) was known as the Saint Lawrance Company (SLC).
The Hudson Bay Company's controls several forts that can be found throughout the frontier. The most popular fort is Fort Rupert which is situated between Langley Coast and Crusoe's Bay, being overseen from Jamie's Ridge on the Isle of Rupert. Meanwhile, the headquarters of the Hudson Bay Company is located at the Citadel of Aimee on the Beauval Isles. Another fort is also found on Stonemore named Fort Belle which receives very little in terms of actual player garrisoning. A former Hudson Bay Company fort originally named Fort Dudley was located on Cantermagne Island, before it was taken by the Compagnie de la Nouvelle-France who had since named it Fort St. Louis. However, the fort itself has fallen into disrepair. Another fort known as Fort Talon has since replaced Fort Dudley, albeit rather ineffectively due to reasons seen below.
The Hudson Bay Company is organized in companies, which can be elite or militia subsections. Each company is composed of 2 platoons and 4 squads, 2 squads per platoon. An exception may be made for some companies, where a third platoon may be present.
The Hudson Bay Company also benefits from the military budget, allowing soldiers to always be able to equip themselves with weapons and provisions by using their company's budget. To increase the budget the company benefits from, the soldier must carry supply crates from the Plateau Warehouse on the Isle of Rupert to Fort Rupert, increasing the budget by 150 pounds per crate.
In the Hudson Bay Company Discord, NCOs will announce different events, such as combat trainings, patrols, crate runs, or hunting trips. These events are for all online company rankers and NCOs, and by attending them soldiers can improve their skills and image, thus improving their chances to promotions or other rewards. MFP on the other hand don't typically host this type of events, instead they must oversee other companies and write out reports regarding investigations or disciplinary issues. They must also supervise penals.

How to enlist in the HBC
To enlist in to the Militia, you must join the HBC Discord and join the HBC Group. After joining Discord and verifying go to #recruitment-booth and DM the officer of your choice with the format given in the recruitment message. They will do a background check and if you pass it you will be roled and ranked within the HBC Militia.
Note: You must not have an active Dishonourable discharge. To get rid of it go through penal by DMing a MFP NCO or Officer. A different option is to appeal the DD, which may work out if the reason for it was more minor such as a first time desertion or DM recruiting.
- To enlist in a milita unit, you must DM a officer of the respective company.
- To enlist in elite divisions, you must attend a tryout.
- To join the Military Foot Police, you must fill out an application.
Universal Basic Training
Beginning with the first conduction of a Universal Basic Training, members of the militia must attend and officially pass a Universal Basic Training in order to be promoted past the rank of Private, or to be recruited to an elite division where a UBT isn't required, instead they have their own auxiliary programs.
A UBT may teach you basic laws and how to survive in the HBC. They will teach you basic formations, drills, and how to do crate runs.
Privates who refuse to or fail to pass one after the period of time given by their company will be discharged.
Discharges
Honourable Discharge:
An honourable discharge is reserved for Staff Sergeants and above who have served for a long time and can only be given by or with permission of LT. Colonel+. You can re-join HBC after the 7-day cooldown.
General Discharge:
A General Discharge simply means you can re-join HBC after the 7 day cooldown. To get a GD, you must request one from a Staff Sergeant or any officer in your platoon. You can also ask your Major or Captain for a General Discharge, but make sure to follow the chain of command first.
Dishonourable Discharge:
A dishonourable Discharge is simply a blacklist until the soldier has either passed Penal or successfully appealed it with the Judge Advocate Corps.
Ways to achieve a DD:
- Being an alt
- Killing fellow company men
- Disrespect and/or improper conduct
- Budget Sapping.
- Gunrunning (giving items acquired through the company budget to Colonists or Natives; bannable offence)
- Evading Fines
- Killing Hudson Bay Company members before the 3-day cooldown of a General or honourable discharge ends
- Joining a faction that raids the HBC before the 3-day cooldown for a General or honourable discharge ends
- Deserting (Leaving the Discord server while ranked in the HBC)
- Generally being a moron
- Ghosting
Breaking the Three Strike Rule (Article III, Section II, clause E; having 3 DDs on record) will result in a three strike bar. Barred soldiers can appeal their bar through the Judge Advocate Office and then possibly serve in Penal in order to get unbarred.

The HBC is organized into regiments, battalions, companies, platoons, and squads. Each unit is commanded by different officers and, at the lower levels, warrant and non-commissioned officers.

- First Fusilier Company, "The Old Guard" The The Old Guard originate from Belfast, Ireland. They originally travelled to Canada in search of land and to do their best to avoid the British rule of Ireland eventually meeting up with the British Soldiers who offered Order among the frontier. They formed an alliance allowing for the British and Fusiliers to conquer the frontier. They then realized that the Irish soldiers had professional and versatile experience offering them a position among the Hudson Bay Company. The Irish accepted and aimed their loyalty towards the British crown, consistently conquering the frontier and allowing an ease of colonization. The Irish Fusiliers are partially garrisoned within the Citadel of Aimee. The Irish Fusiliers were previously garrisoned at Fort Dudley before its fall to French forces. The company has since then reformed into a standard British Company.
- Second Rifle Company, "Highland Rangers" The Second Company, known as the ''Highland Rangers'' was forged as part of Britain's effort to consolidate and utilize the martial prowess of Scotland's clans. Recruited primarily from the Highland regions of Scotland, the company brought together fierce warriors who sought a future of purpose and honour under the British Crown. Many soldiers were younger sons of clan leaders, skilled fighters with no inheritance but a deep loyalty to their homeland and kin. The company was transported to North America during the mid-1700s as part of Britain’s expansion and defence efforts against French forces, indigenous resistance, and other colonial threats. Stationed along the rugged frontier, they were tasked with navigating dense forests, defending key outposts, and conducting precise military campaigns in the wild and unpredictable terrain. The company has since then reformed into a standard British Company.
- Second Battalion
- Third Heavy Infantry Company, "King's Legion" The King's German Legion was raised from German troops originating from the electorate of Hannover to serve wherever the King saw fit. The members of legion were veteran troops from the War of the Spanish Succession and were among the most experienced troops at the Crown's disposal. In December, 1723, A Jäger Company from the Legion was deployed to Rupert's Land to serve the Hudson Bay Company as Riflemen to subdue native resistance in the territory, designated in the Militia structure as Third Company. These veterans from the continent devastated their native adversaries using their own tactics against them, and proved to be masters of forest warfare, making them an extremely valuable asset of the HBC's Militia in Canada. The company has since then reformed into a standard British Company.
- Fourth Fusilier Company, "Frontier's Finest" The Fourth Company, known as the "Frontier's Finest," is a specialized unit comprised of Hessian soldiers who have transitioned from European conflicts to the rugged landscapes of North America. Renowned for their marksmanship and expertise in forest warfare, these troops bring a wealth of experience to the Hudson Bay Company. Dressed in green uniforms with distinctive brass-colored cuffs, The Brass Legion blend seamlessly into the woodland environment while signifying their elite status within the Militia. Their skills in scouting and guerrilla tactics enable them to gather intelligence and launch precise attacks against both native tribes and rival forces. With a fierce sense of loyalty to the Crown and each other, The Brass Legion are dedicated to defending the frontier and securing the HBC's interests. They embody the spirit of adaptability and resilience, ready to confront any threat that arises in their new homeland. The company has since then reformed into a standard British Company.
- Third Battalion (Disbanded).
- Fifth Company, "The Bloody Fifth" The Fifth Company or the Bloody Fifth, is a formation originated from Yorkshire, England. Part of the 1st Yorkshire of Huntingdon Regiment before being split and integrated into Hudson Bay Company, the company oversaw a steady grow in the New Settlers membership and also from those that served in the Spanish Succession War. As the company expanded, the Bloody Fifth continuously assist the Crown to expunge the French and their associates influences from the frontier as well as pacifying the local natives and bandits that posed threat to the HBC trading routes. The Fifth Company has grown to become the main garrisoning force of the Hudson Bay Company, with the unit being found in the vast majority of Hudson Bay Company controlled forts and garrisons. The formation wears a red uniform with red facings and a standard company-issued tricone. The company has since been disbanded into the first battalion.
- Sixth Company, "Franco Legionaries" Sixth Company is a newly established detachment comprised of former French soldiers who were abandoned by the French crown after their defeat in Quebec. Witnessing the true nature of their former king, they now seek new soldiers to defend the frontier alongside their once-enemies, who have become their newfound English brothers. In the year 1724, as tensions simmered between European powers and indigenous tribes, these soldiers, once loyal to France, embraced a new purpose. They sought battle with local nations, learning the ways of combat and violence. With muskets and courage, they aimed to forge a future in a turbulent world, united against common threats. The company has since been disbanded into the first battalion.
- Governor's Guard Detachment
- Grenadier Guards, "The Governor's Own" Formed in 1665 under the order of King Charles II, the Grenadier Guards has served to be one of the most prestigious, distinguished, and loyal guard units within the King's army. The unit is filled with an excellence of tradition, honor, and origin dating back to its creation. Tasked with the highest honors and duties serving directly to the Headquarters Division, the Guard has earned its reputation of loyalty in protecting the king and all of its most esteemed leaders. This duty is to be upheld by only the most skillful individuals, who have proved their valor and commitment towards the crown. With discipline and skill, the Royal Artillery stands ready to bring devastation to those who threaten the Company’s rule.

Hudson Bay Company Garrisons
Forts
- Citadel of Aimee: Garrisoned by the non-player soldiers of the British aligned Irish First Company, the Citadel of Aimee is the largest, most defended, and only stone fortress of the Hudson Bay Company. While Hudson Bay Company players rarely utilize or garrison the fortress, the Citadel of Aimme serves as the headquarters of the Hudson Bay Company on the frontier, with the fortress providing offices which are not seen in any other fort.
- Fort Belle: Garrisoned by the non-player soldiers of the British aligned French Sixth Company, Fort Belle serves as the Hudson Bay Company's main fort on Stonemore Island. Originally a small camp for the company to retake the island, the camp has grown to a full-scale fort of which oversees the nearby area.
- Fort Rupert: Garrisoned by the non-player soldiers of the main British Fifth Company, Fort Rupert serves as the main launching point of Hudson Bay Company operations on the Isle of Rupert and the frontier as a whole. The fort constantly sees battle and raids against the heavily garrisoned fort, with all Hudson Bay Company detachment and company players often being seen garrisoning the fort themselves.
- Fort Talon: A currently bugged ungarrisoned fort on Cantermagne Island, Fort Talon is supposed to be a small fort meant to contest the mostly Nouvelle France controlled island after the fall of Fort Dudely (Now Fort St. Louis) After the fall of the Compagnie de la Nouvelle-France, Fort Talon serves little purpose and remains largely forgotten by Hudson Bay Company soldiers.
Settlements
- Coulsdon: Partially garrisoned by a non-player soldier of the main British Fifth Company, Coulsdon is a town largely in French hands. A singular British soldier remains in the town, with several former penal members being also present within the town. While the Fifth Company soldier Evan Wick may be an oversight, it can now be presumed that the town is being largely handed over to the Hudson Bay Company after the fall of the Compagnie de la Nouvelle-France.
- James Bay: Garrisoned by a non-player soldier of the main British Fifth Company, James Bay is a substantially controlled settlement of the Hudson Bay Company, with the town being home to a Hudson Bay Company veteran and soldier of whom guards the town.
- Throne's Camp: Garrisoned by penal soldiers and a British Fifth Company soldier on Cantermagne Island, Throne's Camp is a small settlement dedicated to selling and shipping supplies to French settlements. Whether or not these items are illegal is vague, however it is sanctioned by a lord within the Hudson Bay Company.
